About Us
George Leach started working on guitars in 1988, and first went into business under the name of “GSL Guitars”.
In 1994, he changed the name to the Phoenix Guitar Company, and decided to open a store in Phoenix .
The store specialized in building custom instruments and repairs, and quickly became well known as a great place to
either get an instrument built, or get one repaired. George decided to shut down the store in early 1996
(he really wanted to build guitars- not be a store manager), but has kept building guitars, and occasionally
doing repairs or restorations (see the article on repairing a 1962 Martin D-28--under "1962 Martin Repair")
The Phoenix Guitar Company was joined by Diana Huber as a partner in 2006. Diana has been working with George
part time for the past several years. She is an excellent luthier, and is responsible for building many (if not most)
of the guitars we build. She also helps teach the gutiarmaking classes.
At the Phoenix Guitar Company, we believe in working closely with our customers to make the very best guitars possible.
We use only the finest materials, and our work is guaranteed for life to the original owner.
Our repairs are expertly done, with great care, whether the repair is a refret on an inexpensive instrument, a refinish,
or a neck reset on a vintage Martin
